A NYC, Darren écrit les chansons du prochain album. Il vient de divorcé de Colby Taylor, sa femme depuis quelques années, certaines chansons reflètent la douleur de la fin de leur relation.

En février 1999 "The Animal Song" (BO du film Disney "The Other Sister") sort en single et devient un tube en Australie et aux USA.

En septembre sort leur 2ème single, une romantique ballade "I Knew I Loved You" dans la lignée de "Truly Madly Deeply". "I Knew I Loved You" reste 124 semaines dans les charts de the Monitor/Billboard Adult Contemporary Airplay.
L'acrtice Kirsten Dunst joue dans le clip.

En novembre sort enfin leur 2nd album "Affirmation" dans le monde entier et décroche la quatrième meilleure vente de l'année 1999. En un mois il devient disque de platine aux USA, du au succès de leur single "I Knew I Loved You" n°1 des hits.
L'album commence n°1 dans les charts australien dans the Australian ARIA album où il reste 6 semaines. Il passe 158 semaines dans le Top 200 des charts au Royaume-Uni.

En février 2000 le 3ème single sort "Crash And Burn".

En juin Darren chante "O Sole Mio" avec le tenor italien Luciano Pavarotti lors d'un de ses concerts de charitée "Pavarotti and Friends".

Le groupe chante "Affirmation" lors de la cérémonie de clotûre de Jeux Olympiques de Sydney en octobre 2000.

Le groupe fini l'année en gagnant des Billboard Music Awards: Adult Contemporary Single of the Year, Hot 100 Singles Airplay of the Year, Best Adult Contemporary Video, Adult Contemporary Song of the Year et Adult Contemporary Artist of the Year.

L'album se vent à plus de 6 million d'exemplaires durant l'année 2000.

Dans ce clip Darren craque sur une fille qui est joué Kirsten Dunst, une actrice américaine.
